In the very heart of Zaporizhzhia, an event took place that left a deep mark on the hearts of about 20 young people — the School Without Walls. It was not just a meeting, nor another youth initiative or seminar. It was a special space of honesty, openness, and deep reflection, where everyone could be themselves, speak sincerely, and listen with respect. The main theme of our one-day gathering was the idea of honest leadership.
Throughout this intensive day, young Christians from different communities shared their personal stories, doubts, hopes, and sometimes even pain. We are used to seeing leaders as strong, confident, goal-oriented individuals. But what lies behind this image? That is what we tried to explore together.
We talked about how being a leader is truly inspiring. It is an opportunity to influence others, to guide, to serve, and to inspire. But at the same time — it is a great responsibility, often associated with internal struggles, emotional exhaustion, loneliness, and fears. Some faced misunderstanding from their loved ones, others — the pressure of expectations, and some simply didn’t know where to start.
The School Without Walls became a place where everyone could feel supported and find new motivation. Here, reflections, dialogues, and ideas were born that helped to better understand leadership as service. And although everyone has their own answer to the question “what does being a leader mean to me?”, we were united by one thing — a sincere desire to make the world a better place, starting with ourselves.
