Pajamas, Smiles, and Pillows

At the Reimer Center, another children’s club event took place—this time transformed into a real celebration: a pajama party! The children were invited to come wearing their favorite pajamas, each accompanied by a special plush toy—a faithful friend, always with them at home or on the go. The center was filled with bright colors, children’s smiles, and a sense of magical coziness. Each child had the opportunity to share the story of their toy, creating an atmosphere of trust, friendship, and mutual respect.

The evening’s atmosphere was incredibly warm and fun: children excitedly introduced their plush favorites to each other, shared funny stories, and invented new adventures. The club leaders created a true environment where everyone could be themselves, without judgment or restrictions. The little ones danced, sang, participated in creative contests, and even invented fairy tales. The pajama party became a true space for imagination, full of childhood freedom and genuine joy.

This event turned into a true breath of joy in difficult times. The room echoed with loud laughter and heartfelt conversations about the adventures of teddy bears, bunnies, and even imaginary superheroes. For a few hours, the children were able to forget the anxious reality and simply enjoy the moment. It was particularly important that each participant felt heard and accepted—which is extremely valuable under today’s conditions. The leadership team gave the kids full freedom to imagine—they played, ran, sang, drew, built pillow forts, and simply enjoyed being happy children.

Even more adventures lie ahead! The leaders are already actively preparing for several children’s camps that will logically continue the work of the club. One of them is planned to be off-site—in western Ukraine—where children will meet new friends, take part in interesting outdoor activities, go on hikes, and enjoy thematic workshops. Another camp will be held here in Zaporizhzhia, providing a wonderful opportunity for families staying in the city. Both camps aim to create a safe and inspiring environment for children’s growth, creativity, and well‑being.

About 10 leaders and some 30 children are already preparing for the trip to western Ukraine, specifically to picturesque Zakarpattia. This trip promises not only an exciting adventure, but also a chance for children and adults to finally rest from daily stress and nightly drone‑attacks. There, in a serene natural setting, they will be able to recharge their strength, improve their health, and simply enjoy a peaceful sky overhead.

It’s worth noting that preparing and running such events requires a lot of energy, time, and emotional resources. The leaders admit they get very tired, because working with children demands constant attention, care, and emotional involvement. But this is a pleasant tiredness. “I’m very happy when I see the children’s smiles,” shares Serhiy, one of the movement’s leaders. “It feels as though the war doesn’t exist at all. These moments give us hope and inspire us to keep working so that every child feels important and loved.”

Events like these prove that even in difficult times, you can find bright moments that stay in your hearts for a long time. The Reimer Center continues to be a place of warmth, support, and inspiration for many families. Thanks to collective efforts, the inspired work of volunteers, and community support, we preserve childhood for those who need it most. And every event is a step toward peace, goodness, and a bright future.
