In the frontline city of Zaporizhzhia, which lives in constant tension due to its proximity to the front line, a weekly event brings joy, hope, and warmth. It is a children’s club that gathers 25 to 30 children each time. Despite the danger associated with martial law, children and their parents gladly come here because they know it is safe, interesting, and heartfelt.
This time, the session had a particularly exciting theme. The club leaders, together with the children, studied a book titled “Keys for Children.” This is an educational and spiritual book that helps young readers better understand moral values, Christian principles, and teaches them to make the right decisions. The main idea of the book is to find keys to the heart, to good deeds, and to understanding God’s will.
During the session, the children worked in groups. They discussed situations described in the book, analyzed the behavior of the characters, compared it with biblical examples, and read relevant passages from the Bible. The discussions were lively: each group then shared their conclusions with all participants. Such conversations help children not only better understand what they read but also teach them to express their thoughts, respect other points of view, and develop teamwork skills.
Among the participants this time, Varvara, Tymofii, and Sava stood out in particular. They sincerely shared their insights, which became true testimonies of deep reflection.
Varvara admitted, “Reading the Bible is not difficult at all and even very helpful.” She realized for the first time that the Holy Scripture is not something complex or only for adults. On the contrary, it contains many simple and clear truths that help one live rightly. Varvara also noted that good deeds should be done not for praise, but to glorify God.
Tymofii drew attention to how important it is to have spiritual support in difficult moments. He said, “It is important to read the Bible constantly and learn Bible verses because this will help you get through difficult situations in the future.” His words reflect a deep understanding of the importance of spiritual preparation—as a shield that protects from fears, doubts, and temptations.
Meanwhile, Sava discovered a profound truth: “Even a small sacrifice, if given from a pure heart, is of great value in God’s eyes.” His thought is impressive in its wisdom. This understanding makes a person more attentive to the little things, teaches sincerity and kindness not for personal gain, but out of love.
After the session, the children received a pleasant surprise—each was gifted their own copy of the book “Keys for Children.” Now they can continue the journey through its pages at home, on their own or with their parents. This will be not only an opportunity to improve reading skills but also a path to deeper reflection and spiritual growth.
The children’s club in Zaporizhzhia is not just entertainment or a way to pass the time. It is a place where children shape their character, learn love, kindness, and mutual respect. And most importantly, they learn to see light even in darkness. Thanks to such initiatives, the future looks brighter and kinder.
