English for Youth

Zaporizhzhia, Reimer Center – a place where young people can learn something new, build relationships, and sometimes just have fun and take their minds off the harsh reality that has surrounded them for almost three years of war. For a year now, English language classes have been held here.

The latest lesson was special. It was dedicated to knowledge exchange among students. Those who had been studying for a year helped newcomers grasp basic concepts and the Present Simple tense. While learning English is a challenge, this form of interaction brought something fresh and engaging.

This time, the group decided to try a new lesson format: more experienced students explained the basic rules to the beginners. Myroslav, one of the participants, shared his impressions:
“I liked how the girls explained how to use Present Simple. It was clear and interesting. Thanks to this, I understood the rules of this tense even better.” These words confirm the effectiveness of interactive learning. Peer teaching not only helps to better absorb material but also builds confidence in one’s own knowledge.

During the lesson, each student was given a topic to present in English. Ksyusha, one of the students, shared her experience:“Today, I especially liked how we used the projector and presentations. It was interesting and unusual. Plus, the overall atmosphere was great. I also think it’s cool that we’re not just learning English but also practicing public speaking. That’s interesting and, in my opinion, very useful.”

Over the past year, many students have noticed significant progress. They speak English more confidently, understand grammar better, and are no longer afraid of making mistakes. Ksyusha adds:” I’ve definitely noticed my progress, and I like that I can now speak more or less comfortably. Of course, I want to continue learning, as it’s interesting to me, and I know it will be useful in the future. Overall, I really enjoyed it!”

These words reflect not only satisfaction with the learning process but also strong motivation among students. When they see real results, they become even more eager to continue their studies.

Learning at Reimer Center is not just about grammar and new vocabulary. It is a process that helps develop important skills such as public speaking, self-confidence, and teamwork. The atmosphere of support and mutual assistance creates the perfect conditions for effective learning. Lessons at Reimer Center continue, and with each session, students get closer to their goal – fluency in English. They are no longer afraid to make mistakes, communicate in English, and express their thoughts with confidence. Who knows, maybe in just a few months, they will be able to speak fluently with native speakers? One thing is certain – there is much more to come, and the journey to knowledge has only just begun
