Cards of Peace in Times of War

At Reimer Center, a very special and meaningful meeting recently took place. It was dedicated to a theme that is critical for young people in Zaporizhzhia – learning how to cope with stress and anxiety. The city lives under the constant threat of rockets and drones, and this inevitably destroys the nervous system of both children and adults. That is why the Center organized a session that gave teenagers and children new tools to manage stress.

Among the participants were Dasha and Violeta, two teenagers who know well what it means to live under constant danger. Together with others, they received special cards designed to help calm down during moments of fear. Teacher Serhiy created a relaxed and joyful atmosphere, explained how to use the cards, and showed simple yet effective exercises. Both girls immediately tried them and realized that even when fear overwhelms the heart, there are ways to regain peace.

Another session took place for a group of younger children. Teacher Olya, who had also received these cards, guided the kids through playful exercises – focusing on breathing, colors, and small relaxation techniques. The children eagerly practiced, discovering that these simple methods can help even during air raids or nights filled with explosions.

Now both the teenagers and the children keep their cards as symbols of support and stability. Reimer Center once again proved to be not only a place of learning but also a safe space for healing, hope, and peace in times of war.
