This summer, the village of Mykolai-Pole near Zaporizhzhia came alive with children’s laughter and joy. A team of leaders from Reimer Center arrived to hold several unforgettable days for the local children. About 50 boys and girls gathered at the camp, and for them, this event became a true celebration.
In this small village, children do not have many opportunities for fun, especially during the war, when most of the usual joys have been left behind. That is why the visit of the leaders from Zaporizhzhia was such a special gift. The program was full of activities: games, songs, sports competitions, creative workshops, and Bible stories. Each activity not only brought joy but also taught them to work together, support one another, and dream about the future.
The atmosphere of the camp was filled with light and sincerity. Children, who usually live in an environment of anxiety and uncertainty, were able to experience a space of safety, joy, and friendship. Many of them shared that these days would stay with them for a long time, because happiness in simple things — shared games, songs by the fire, or a friend’s smile — is more important and needed now than ever before.
The leaders of Reimer Center returned home with gratitude in their hearts, having seen how just a few days of love and care can transform children. And Mykolai-Pole will remember this camp as a time of joy amidst the hardships of war.
