In front-line Zaporizhzhia, within the cozy space of Reimer Center, a special event brought young people together, giving them new skills, inspiration, and a renewed belief in themselves. Serhii, one of the leaders of “School Without Walls,” initiated a series of workshops for young men, where each participant could create something unique and useful with their own hands. The first event has already taken place, leaving behind warm emotions, new skills, and a desire to continue.
Serhii shared that he had long dreamed of creating a space where young men could not only learn but also experience the joy of working together. “Shared work unites us,” he said. Indeed, that evening at Reimer Center was filled with an atmosphere of trust, support, and sincere enthusiasm. The boys worked side by side, exchanged ideas, helped each other, and celebrated their results.
During the workshop, the participants created wooden crafts to decorate their rooms. These weren’t just handmade items—they became symbols of unity, effort, and a meaningful evening. The craft was carefully designed using high-quality materials to allow each participant to express creativity and feel proud of the result. “I really enjoyed what we did,” said one of the participants, Tymofii. “I made something with my own hands, and that feels really good.”
Serhii proudly watched the boys. “It’s touching to see them grow up, becoming real men. I’m happy I can contribute to shaping their character,” he said. That’s why the workshops won’t be a one-time event—Serhii plans to hold them several times a month, seeing great value in this initiative.
Beyond practical skills, the young men have the opportunity to connect with mentors, ask personal questions, and share what’s on their minds. This kind of support is especially vital during wartime, when psychological resilience is just as important as physical safety. The boys are learning not just to work but also to support each other, listen, and offer help.
Initiatives like this are incredibly meaningful, especially in front-line cities where young people need support, hope, and a vision for the future. Reimer Center has become a place where every boy can feel part of a community—a big family building a better tomorrow with their own hands. Here, a new generation is forming: one that doesn’t fear hardship and knows how to take action.
Serhii and the “School Without Walls” team lead by example, proving that even in the hardest times, it’s possible to create light and kindness around us. They believe that education through action is the path to a strong and conscious society. And while this story is only beginning, it’s already a shining example of how shared work and mutual support can change lives.
