For many years, School Without Walls has been dedicated to encouraging service, nurturing potential, and educating the younger Christian generation. With a positive track record of raising several generations of students, it remains relevant and continues to pass on the vision of youth leadership.
In the frontline city of Zaporizhzhia, despite its proximity to danger and the ongoing war, many young Christians remain active in serving locals, displaced people, and sharing the Gospel. They need a community that will support them, help them grow in faith, and foster a sense of unity.
For Halyna, School Without Walls became that community. At the beginning of the war, she was forced to flee abroad but later returned. After being baptized and making a covenant with God, she began actively seeking ways to serve. As a student at a music college, Halyna participates in worship at church, serves in a children’s club, and helps wherever she can use her talents. But her ministry goes beyond music — she is willing to help with anything: running children’s workshops, cooking meals, organizing games, or simply tidying up. Her heart is open to serve.
“What inspires me in ministry is that I do it for God. And that I am not alone. I feel unity with other Christians,” says Halyna.
This year, she joined the School Without Walls program. “In the sessions, I learn more about leadership. I like the format, the visuals, and that there’s always something to reflect on afterward,” she shares.
One topic that especially touched her was “Being Honest About Leadership.” One key point made by speaker Serhii was that criticism is inevitable — there will always be people who say something negative. “I also realized I don’t want to be someone who discusses others’ flaws. I don’t like it, and I want to rid myself of such thoughts,” Halyna adds.
At 19, she has already experienced criticism and felt its pain. But that hasn’t stopped her. She continues to move forward, serve, and grow in her faith.
Halyna is one of many young Christians who, despite all difficulties, choose the path of service. Her story is a testament to the importance of having a supportive community that helps one move forward. School Without Walls is such a place — where young people find spiritual growth, leadership training, and opportunities to serve. Halyna’s story is inspiring: when your heart is open to God, He will always find a way to use it.
